Chattanooga Holds Benefit Concert for Southeastern Tornado Victims
Where: JJ’s Bohemia; Chattanooga, TN
When: Friday, May 13 · 7:00pm – 11:30pm
For those who haven’t heard of this yet, the area that some of our writers are stationed in, the area around Chattanooga, TN, was hit a few weeks ago with a series of storms and tornados that were unprecedented and unimaginably destructive. The storms that happened on April 27th, 2011 will forever be remembered in this community, as it almost wiped a small city off the map, and killed dozens, left hundreds homeless, and caused untold millions in property damage.
Multiple organizations, both government and private, have come to town to help, and they are all welcome. Our hearts go out to all the victims of these tragic events. Scores of places in the area have organized their own events to raise money, and one of our favorite bars, JJ’s Bohemia, is having a benefit concert on Friday, May 13th. The proceeds are going to the Red Cross, and the cover charge is a donation at the door.
The benefit starts at 7 pm, and the list of musicians performing is vast. The performers, in no particular order, are The Tammys, Elkmilk, Blake from the Nim Nims, Ashley Hicks, Southern Love Kills, Gold Plated Gold, Sparkz, Digital Butter, New Planet and probably more to be added. So, if you are in the area, come on out and have a few beers, listen to some good music, and raise some money for your neighbors in need. It is great to see so many of our fellow musicians, friends, family, and community band together to help. Some of our Gravy and Biscuits peeps will be there too, so say hi if you see us.
