Actor Jeff Bridges Signs with Blue Note Records
Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges is making his musical debut on a major label and signing to Blue Note Records/EMI Music Group, a division of Capitol. Bridges, who many of you will always know as “The Dude”, is recording with Oscar- and Grammy-award winning producer and Crazy Heart collaborator T-Bone Burnett.
Jeff Bridges, who appears on the May cover of Esquire Magazine, won an Academy Award for his portrayal of a washed-up country music legend in 2009′s Crazy Heart. His major-label debut will be released in late summer.
T-Bone Burnett is known for his work with Allison Krauss and Robert Plant, Elton John and Leon Russell, as well as the Grammy-winning soundtracks to O Brother, Where Are Thou? and Walk the Line. Bridges and Burnett met over 30 years ago when Kris Kristofferson introduced them during the filming of the 1980 motion picture Heaven’s Gate. Burnett even selected songs that appeared on the soundtrack to Bridges’ 1998 film, The Big Lebowski.
Of Bridges’ musical relationship with Burnett, he says, “It’s a relationship that’s really inflamed my music.” More details will be announced in the coming months.
